Who We Are
Because of Hope (BOH) is a Santa Barbara based 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to sustainably empower widows and orphans living in Uganda. BOH is active in 3 rural Ugandan villages, offering empowerment opportunities to 83 widows and their orphaned children through income earning opportunities, education, and agriculture training.
What We’re Asking
Each year, BOH gathers a team of runners for the Santa Barbara Veteran’s Half Marathon. Each runner commits to raising $1,000 for BOH’s programs making this a pivotal fundraising event for our organization. This year, our goal is not only for these runners to raise a total of $15,000, but for local businesses to match (or exceed) that goal with another collective $15,000!
Your Funding Impact
Because education is not free in Uganda, we offer student scholarships to these women’s children and currently support 34 students in their education endeavors. As students age, however, their school fees also increase. Thus, school fees are the largest funding need for our organization. We project that the funds YOU give will go to furthering these students in their education and ultimately breaking them and their families out of the cycle of poverty.
